ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, India, Afghanistan tensions deepened after the Foreign Office rejected New Delhi’s statement on Pakistani strikes against terrorist infrastructure in Afghanistan.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi called India’s statement “baseless and preposterous.” Andrabi said Pakistan’s actions were legitimate, targeted and proportionate.
He accused India of interfering in neighbouring countries and violating the United Nations Charter.
The spokesperson also accused India of aiding terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil against Pakistan. He said such support violated the relevant United Nations Security Council sanctions regime.
Andrabi said Pakistan would continue taking appropriate measures to protect its citizens under international law.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said security forces killed 29 militants in an intelligence-based operation and precision strikes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Radio Pakistan reported that three targets in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar were destroyed during strikes that killed 25 militants.
Tarar said the strikes followed recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi.
