Karachi, Sindh: The Pakistan Airports Authority has moved to revive inactive airports across Pakistan to expand regional air connectivity, sources familiar with the matter said.
PAA Director General Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed chaired a high-level meeting at the authority’s headquarters in Karachi. Senior officials from airport services, engineering services and the commercial department attended.
Officials asked teams to restore airports in Dera Ismail Khan, Turbat, Dalbandin and Saidu Sharif. They also issued instructions for Sukkur, New Gwadar and other facilities.
The move follows recent work by the Ministry of Defence and PAA to restore dormant aviation infrastructure. Earlier this month, authorities reopened Dera Ismail Khan Airport after years of inactivity.
Sources said the Ministry of Defence directed PAA to speed up the restoration of inactive airports nationwide.
