Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday welcomed IBI Beijing United Technology’s Pakistan digital economy headquarters in Islamabad during a meeting with a Chinese business delegation.
The delegation was led by Qian Xiaojun, president and controlling shareholder of IBI Beijing United Technology.
Shehbaz said Pakistan and China share historic ties. He called both countries “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners” and praised China’s development under President Xi Jinping.
The prime minister said the new headquarters would support digital economy cooperation, investment facilitation and industrial collaboration. He said the project would create new opportunities for technology and growth in Pakistan.
Qian expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential. He said IBI wanted to support Pakistan’s digital transformation and help develop its digital infrastructure.
Qian said the Islamabad headquarters would work as a command centre for digital transformation. He said it would help small and medium-sized enterprises connect with Chinese markets.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar earlier launched the IBI Pakistan Digital Economy Headquarters in Islamabad. Dar called it the start of a “Digital Silk Road” between Pakistan and China.
Dar said Pakistan and China were moving “from roads to networks” and from physical infrastructure to digital architecture.
The meeting was also attended by federal ministers Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Jam Kamal Khan, Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Ali Pervaiz Malik.
