The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the immediate Imran Khan hospital transfer to Shifa International Hospital and directed that the former prime minister remain there until the next hearing.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed issued the order while hearing petitions concerning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s medical treatment and meetings with his family.
The bench, which also included Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, directed jail officials to facilitate the transfer. It ruled that Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Uzma Khan could accompany Khan during his hospital stay.
The Supreme Court also ordered authorities to arrange weekly meetings between Khan and his family. It directed the federal government to submit his complete medical record to the court.
During the hearing, Justice Waheed observed that Khan’s medical reports showed his overall health was deteriorating. He cited high blood pressure and an eye ailment among the health concerns detailed in the reports.

The federal government objected to Khan’s transfer, arguing that it had not received prior notice before the court issued the direction. The Supreme Court incorporated the government’s objections into its order.
The bench also directed PTI to ensure that no rallies or gatherings take place outside Shifa International Hospital during Khan’s stay.
The Supreme Court adjourned the case until September 16, 2026
