Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz reiterated Pakistan’s commitment not to transfer weapons of mass destruction to states or non-state actors.

He was addressing a two day regional seminar in Islamabad today.

Sartaj Aziz said as a responsible nuclear state, Pakistan will continue to partner with international community to prevent non-state actors from acquiring these weapons.

He added that Pakistan has taken a wide range of legal, regulatory, organizational and enforcement measures in this regard.

The Adviser underscored the need for striking a balance between advancing the goals of non-proliferation and facilitating access of developing countries to making peaceful use of strategic and dual use materials and technologies.

He underlined that states which possess advanced capabilities should have an equal opportunity to participate in and contribute to the export control governance architecture.

He highlighted Pakistan’s strong credentials and expertise for the membership of Nuclear Suppliers Group.

The Seminar is being attended by China, Russia, thirteen countries from South and Central Asia and representatives of the international organizations. (PhotoNews /APP)
