Pakistan beat Australia by four wickets in the third ODI at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday to clinch the three-match series 2-1.
Shadab Khan starred with an unbeaten 29 and two wickets as Pakistan chased 158 in the 42nd over. Abdul Samad supported him with 18 not out in an unbroken 49-run seventh-wicket stand.
Pakistan struggled early in the chase after Sahibzada Farhan fell for six and Maaz Sadaqat was dismissed for 27. Babar Azam steadied the innings with 40 off 84 balls before Matthew Kuhnemann removed him in the 30th over.
The hosts slipped to 112-6 when Arafat Minhas fell for nine, but Shadab and Samad guided Pakistan home without further damage. Kuhnemann led Australia’s attack with 3-38 in 10 overs.
Australia were bowled out for 157 in 42 overs after captain Josh Inglis chose to bat first. Inglis top-scored with 65 off 71 balls, including eight fours and a six.
Shaheen Shah Afridi struck with the second ball of the innings to remove Matthew Short for a duck. He later dismissed Inglis and Cameron Green in the 27th over, finishing with 3-30.
Abrar Ahmed took two wickets, while Haris Rauf dismissed Alex Carey for 19. Shadab ended his ODI wicket drought by removing Oliver Peake and later bowled Adam Zampa before Australia’s innings ended with Matthew Kuhnemann’s run-out.
