Pakistan-Afghanistan border strikes and a Bajaur intelligence-based operation killed 29 militants, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Sunday.
Tarar said in a post on X that security forces first conducted a ground operation in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on June 28.
He said the operation targeted militants linked to Jamaat ul Ahrar and Fitna al-Khawarij after recent attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Karachi.
High-value militant commander Khan Farosh, alias Zabal, died in the Bajaur operation along with three other Jamaat ul Ahrar militants, Tarar said.
The minister said security forces then carried out precision strikes overnight between June 28 and 29 under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.
He said the strikes hit three targets in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar and killed 25 militants. Weapons and ammunition stored at the sites were also destroyed, he added.
AP reported that Afghanistan’s Taliban administration condemned the strikes and said civilians were killed and injured. Pakistan has not reported civilian casualties in its statement.
Tarar said Pakistan wanted regional peace but would not compromise on citizens’ security.
He said the counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam would continue against what he called foreign-sponsored terrorism.
