Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has refused to accept responsibility of ongoing petrol crisis in Punjab province.
According to the sources, a post of ‘member oil’ in OGRA is vacant for the past six months which caused lack of quorum that eventually resulted in failing to make decisions.
The sources said that interviews for the post of member oil have already been conducted, adding that prime minister has yet to approve an eligible candidate for the post.
It further said that OGRA had informed the oil companies and petroleum ministry about petrol stock on December 28.
He said that holding OGRA responsible for prevailing power shortage is ‘unjustified’.
Earlier, the inquiry committee tasked to probe prevailing petrol crisis suggested in its preliminary report that fuel shortage was a “serious failure on the part of OGRA.”
The committee also held PSO Deputy Marketing Manager Sohail Butt responsible for the crisis.
