Nelly Korda won the 81st U.S. Women’s Open on Sunday by one shot after sinking a tense par putt on the final green.
The world’s top-ranked women’s golfer closed with a 2-under 69. Her final 2 1/2-foot putt caught the left edge, circled part of the cup and dropped.
The victory gave Korda her second straight major after last month’s Chevron Championship. She became the first player since Park Inbee in 2013 to win the first two women’s majors of a season.
Korda is also the first American to achieve that start since Betsy King in 1990. The 27-year-old now has four wins and three runner-up finishes this season after going winless in 2025.
“I feel like I’m in a dream,” Korda told the gallery as she fought back tears. She thanked supporters and said she felt lucky to have people in her corner.
Korda opened with a 73 before shooting back-to-back 67s to move into contention. Seven players were separated by two shots entering the final round.

The title was Korda’s fourth career major and 19th career tour win. She earned US$2.5 million from a US$12.5 million purse.
Korda became the youngest American to win four women’s majors since Mickey Wright in 1960. She is also the sixth American woman to win three majors before turning 28.
