TEHRAN: Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei urged Muslim governments on Sunday to strengthen unity and confront what he called their “true enemy,” particularly across West Asia and the Persian Gulf.
Khamenei issued the written message on August 30 for Islamic Unity Week and the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Reuters reported that the statement appeared on his Telegram account.
He specifically appealed to rulers of Muslim countries to identify their adversaries, understand their plans and act against them. He also argued that divisions among Muslims strengthen outside powers.
Khamenei described the United States and Israel as “sworn enemies” of Muslim unity and friendship. He said their hostility extended beyond Iran to Muslim communities across West Asia and North Africa.

In addition, the Iranian leader linked Muslim disunity to the Palestinian issue. He asked whether Palestinians would face the same level of pressure if Muslim governments acted together.

He then called for stronger cooperation among Muslim countries in security, science, economic affairs and mutual defence. According to Khamenei, such cooperation could support what he described as a future Islamic civilisation.

Finally, Tasnim News Agency published the full message on August 30, which carried the Islamic calendar date of 17 Rabi al-Awwal 1448.
