The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday set aside the non-bailable arrest warrant issued for former military ruler Pervez Musharraf after his counsel assured the court that his client would attend the next hearing.
A district and sessions court had issued the arrest warrant against Musharraf in the Ghazi Abdul Rashid murder case. The former military ruler was booked in the case on September 2, 2013.
Musharraf’s counsel told the court that Musharraf was waiting for his medical board’s clearance before he can start attending hearings. The court accepted the request and adjourned the hearing till April 27.
Meanwhile in Quetta, Musharraf’s medical report was presented in an anti-terrorism court hearing the Akbar Bugti murder case.
Nawab Akbar Bugti was assassinated along with over 35 of his comrades during a military operation in the mountainous areas of Bugti Tribal Territory and Kohlu on August 26, 2006. Musharraf, who was president at the time, had directed the military operation.
The DG Health Balochistan submitted the report which will determine whether the former military ruler is fit enough to appear before the court for hearings. The hearing was adjourned until April 22.
