New Line Cinema’s “Mortal Kombat II” will begin streaming exclusively on HBO Max on July 24, Warner Bros. Discovery announced Friday, following the 2026 sequel’s theatrical run.
The film opened in US theatres on May 8 through Warner Bros. Pictures and earned about $129 million worldwide, Polygon reported during its coverage of the streaming announcement.
Director Simon McQuoid returned after directing the franchise’s 2021 reboot. The studio’s synopsis follows actor Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage, a Hollywood action star recruited to join Earthrealm’s champions in their fight against Shao Kahn and his Outworld forces.
