Montreal, Canada: A Montreal shooting killed three people on Monday, including a police officer, a civilian and the alleged gunman, after officers responded to an active-shooter call in Côte-des-Neiges.
Montreal police chief Fady Dagher said officers received a call at about 11:30am local time, or 8:30pm PKT. He said police responded and exchanged fire with an assailant who was firing from inside a building with a long gun.
Dagher called the incident “a tragedy, a nightmare.” He said one male officer was killed and a female officer was seriously wounded, though her life was not in danger.
Police said the gunman wore what appeared to be military-style clothing. Authorities had not released details about the slain civilian in the initial account.
