Rawalpindiz captain Mohammad Rizwan entered the record books on Thursday after becoming the third Pakistan batter to complete 9000 runs in T20 cricket.
Rizwan reached the milestone during Rawalpindiz’s PSL 11 clash against Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium. He completed the landmark on the second ball of the ninth over, joining Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam as the only Pakistan batters to reach 9000 T20 runs.
Shoaib Malik leads the list with 13,571 runs in 557 matches, while Babar Azam follows with 12,331 runs in 356 matches. Rizwan now sits third with 9,013 runs from 310 matches.
The Rawalpindiz captain came into the fixture needing 32 runs to reach the milestone. He made 45 off 38 balls before being caught, giving his side a steady contribution despite a difficult personal run in PSL 11.
Rizwan has struggled for consistency this season, scoring 178 runs in nine matches at an average of 19.77 without a half-century.
Earlier, Rawalpindiz chose to bowl first, a decision that paid off as they dismissed Islamabad United for 137 in 20 overs.
Devon Conway top-scored for Islamabad with 40 off 33 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes. Chris Green then added late resistance with 29 off 16 balls to help United reach a more competitive total.
Rawalpindiz produced a strong collective bowling display, with Dian Forrester, Mohammad Amir and Saad Masood sharing eight wickets between them.
The milestone adds another major achievement to Rizwan’s T20 career, even as he continues to search for stronger form in the ongoing PSL season.
