On September 25, footage surfaced on Pakistani social media showing a salesman at a donut shop in Islamabad secretly recording a video while misbehaving with the Chief Justice of Pakistan and his family.
Shortly after, images of a “sealed” sign outside the shop circulated online, with claims suggesting it was closed on the Chief Justice’s orders. However, these claims are incorrect.
On September 26, a social media post alleged that Crusteez Donuts was sealed a few days after an incident involving Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. This post gained significant attention online, but the shop’s closure was unrelated to any encounter with the Chief Justice.
The circulated image of the sealed shop, dated September 11, shows a different event. Farhan Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner in Islamabad, clarified that the video incident and the shop’s sealing were separate matters. The Chief Justice’s interaction occurred at the Blue Area branch, while the closure on September 11 involved the F6 branch due to dengue prevention violations.
This explanation was supported by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad’s post on X (formerly Twitter), showing the F6 branch sealed for not following dengue prevention guidelines. The shop reopened a few days later.
Additionally, Ahmed mentioned a notification from August under Section 144, which permits action against places harbouring stagnant water, a breeding ground for dengue mosquitoes.
A salesman at the Blue Area branch confirmed that Crusteez Donuts remains open, and business continues as usual.
