“Michael,” the Michael Jackson biopic, reached $911.9 million worldwide after its April 24 release, passing “Bohemian Rhapsody” as the highest-grossing music biopic of all time.
Deadline’s box office figures, cited by People, showed “Michael” overtook “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which finished with $910.9 million globally.
People also reported that “Michael” became the highest-grossing biopic ever at the domestic box office.
The Lionsgate film stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew, as the late pop singer. Antoine Fuqua directed the film, while John Logan wrote the screenplay.
“Michael” first passed “Elvis,” the 2022 biopic about Elvis Presley, before overtaking “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the 2018 Freddie Mercury film. Producer Graham King worked on both “Michael” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
