Kenneth Iwamasa, the former assistant to actor Matthew Perry, was sentenced Wednesday to 41 months in prison in the ketamine case tied to Perry’s death.
TMZ reported that Iwamasa pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death after Perry died from a fatal overdose in October 2023.
Federal prosecutors said Iwamasa became more than Perry’s assistant. They argued he acted as a drug supplier and injector despite having no medical training.
According to court documents cited by TMZ, Iwamasa admitted that he repeatedly injected Perry with ketamine in the weeks before his death.
The documents said Iwamasa gave Perry more than 20 ketamine shots during the actor’s final four days. Prosecutors said he knew Perry was “spiraling out of control” at the time.
Federal prosecutors also accused Iwamasa of trying to hide evidence after Perry died. They said he deleted material, shredded documents and lied to investigators before cooperating under a plea deal.
