Islam Makhachev defeated Ian Machado Garry by unanimous decision at UFC 330 in Philadelphia, retaining his welterweight title and setting a UFC record with his 17th straight victory.
Judges scored Saturday’s five-round main event 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47 for Makhachev at Xfinity Mobile Arena, according to the official UFC scorecards.
Makhachev dropped Garry with a left head kick during the second round. He then used takedowns and ground control to limit the challenger’s offence.
The victory moved Makhachev past former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who won 16 consecutive UFC fights between 2006 and 2012.
Makhachev improved his professional record to 29-1, while Garry fell to 17-2. Garry won the third round on all three scorecards but could not overturn Makhachev’s control across the remaining rounds.

The bout marked Makhachev’s first successful welterweight title defence. He won the belt from Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 in November 2025 after previously holding and defending the lightweight championship four times.
