LAHORE: Lahore Police’s crackdown on illegal weapons has led to 3,960 arrests and 3,953 cases so far this year, a police spokesperson said.
The police said the operation targeted illegal weapons, public display of arms and aerial firing across Lahore, Punjab. The spokesperson said police arrested 171 suspects for aerial firing.
Police also registered 136 cases over aerial firing incidents. The spokesperson said 20 people were arrested for displaying weapons in public. Police filed 17 cases related to the public display of weapons.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said police were working to remove illegal weapons from the city.

He said Lahore Police had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms, aerial firing and public display of weapons.
Kamyana directed authorities to continue action without discrimination. He also ordered action against Dala culture, public display of weapons and vehicles fitted with tinted windows.
