The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government declared three days of mourning following the tragic events in Islamabad.
During an urgent K-P Assembly session led by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, legislators offered prayers for the activists and victims of the violence in Kurram District.
Minister for Law Aftab Alam reported that the PTI’s peaceful protest, which occurred from November 24 to November 27, came under attack, including direct shots at the provincial chief executive. “In response, we have declared three days of mourning,” Alam stated.
At the assembly, Speaker Swati emphasized that Article 16 of the Constitution ensures freedom of expression, a right he accused the government and its institutions of violating during the PTI rally.
He highlighted historical parallels suggesting a repeat of past conflicts and criticized the severe measures taken against protesters, including firing and tear-gas shelling. “Our workers have disappeared, and efforts are underway to conceal their fate,” Swati disclosed.
Swati expressed concern about the nation’s direction and alleged attempts on the lives of the K-P CM and Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife.
