Defence Minister Khawaja Asif warned against trusting “mixed signals” from the Afghan Taliban and said its support for banned TTP militants remained intact.
Speaking on Geo News programme “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath,” Asif said reports about a Taliban warning to the TTP had not changed conditions on the ground.
“It is only in the media,” Asif said. He added that “practically there has been no change in the situation.”
The minister urged the Taliban leadership to end support for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants “once and for all.” He said any such decision should come directly from the Taliban’s top leadership.

Asif said Pakistan should not rely on contradictory statements from Afghan rulers. He warned that trusting such signals on terrorism would be “very dangerous.”
Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in February after earlier border clashes with Afghan Taliban forces. Islamabad says talks have not produced a deal because Kabul has not acted against militant groups operating from Afghan soil.
Separately, Asif responded to remarks by India’s army chief about Operation Sindoor. He said Pakistan was ready to counter any future Indian aggression.
Asif also accused India of using Afghanistan for a proxy war against Pakistan. He said Pakistan’s armed forces would respond more strongly if tensions rose again.
