Karachi: Sindh Police arrested the Karachi honour killing suspect accused of murdering newlywed couple Nadia and Nazirullah in Saudabad after they contracted a free-will marriage.
Police identified the arrested suspect as Sajid, Nadia’s brother. Investigators said he confessed to killing his sister and brother-in-law a day earlier because the marriage went against the family’s wishes.
According to police, Nadia’s family had arranged her engagement with a man identified as Gopang in exchange for Rs350,000. Investigators said Nadia did not want to marry him.

During interrogation, Sajid allegedly claimed Gopang demanded the money back after Nadia married Nazirullah. Police said Sajid told investigators that Gopang pressured the family to kill the couple when the amount could not be returned.

Police said Sajid admitted carrying out the attack with Gopang, who was riding the motorcycle. Gopang remained at large.
Investigators said the couple were travelling from the Malir court to Hyderabad when two men on a motorcycle intercepted their car in Saudabad. CCTV footage showed the pillion rider firing at the couple inside the vehicle.
Police said Nadia had gone missing on May 18, and her father, Aslam, registered an abduction case the next day. On the day of the killing, Nadia and Nazirullah appeared before the Malir court, submitted their nikahnama and told the judge they had married willingly.
Police sources said the court discharged the couple under Section 63 of the Criminal Procedure Code. They were shot dead shortly after leaving the court premises
