ISLAMABAD: Lawmakers will resume debate today (Tuesday) in Parliament’s special joint session on whether or not Pakistan should join Saudi-led coalition against Yemen rebels.
Yesterday, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told the house that Saudi Arabia has asked Pakistan to contribute aircraft, ships and ground troops to its coalition fighting rebels in Yemen.
He said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is due to visit Islamabad on Wednesday to discuss the situation.
Government’s intension to step in Yemen crisis was vehemently opposed by opposition parties, including PPP, ANP, MQM and PTI.
The session will continue debate today to evolve national consensus on the Yemen crisis.
