Islamabad United vs Karachi Kings turned into a comfortable win for the visitors as Sameer Minhas and Devon Conway struck half-centuries to seal an eight-wicket victory in the 25th match of PSL 11 at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium. Chasing 151, Islamabad reached 152/2 in just 16 overs and finished the job with 24 balls to spare.
United attacked early and took control through an aggressive opening stand. Minhas and Conway added 93 runs in the first 10 overs, putting Karachi under pressure from the start.
Minhas led the charge with a fluent 58 off 36 balls, hitting 10 fours before Moeen Ali stumped him on the final ball of the 10th over. Islamabad then lost Mohammad Faiq for five, but Karachi could not break the momentum.
Conway stayed calm after the two wickets and carried the chase deep into the innings. He remained unbeaten on 53 from 36 deliveries, striking six fours and a six.
Captain Shadab Khan then joined him and made sure there was no late stumble. The pair added an unbeaten 43-run stand, with Shadab blasting 31 not out off just 16 balls, including two sixes and a four.
That partnership wrapped up the chase quickly and underlined Islamabad United’s control of the contest. Minhas later collected the Player of the Match award for setting up the win.
Karachi Kings Fall Short After Steady Recovery
Earlier, Shadab Khan’s decision to field first paid off as Karachi Kings managed only 150/6 from their 20 overs. The home side lost Saad Baig early after he scored just six, leaving Karachi under immediate pressure.
Jason Roy and Reeza Hendricks rebuilt the innings with a 62-run stand for the second wicket. Roy made a brisk 39 off 27 balls on his PSL return, hitting three fours and two sixes before Karachi lost further momentum.
Shadab removed Hendricks in the ninth over and then struck again to dismiss Salman Ali Agha for four. Those breakthroughs slowed Karachi at a critical stage.
Hendricks remained Karachi’s most reliable batter and carried his bat through the innings. He finished unbeaten on 51 off 44 balls, with four boundaries, while also sharing a 54-run stand with Azam Khan.
Even so, Islamabad’s bowlers kept the scoring in check. Richard Gleeson and Shadab Khan picked up two wickets each, while Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Hasnain chipped in with one apiece.
Their disciplined effort prevented Karachi from building a bigger total, leaving United with a manageable chase, which their top order completed with ease.
