US authorities arrested dual US-Iranian citizen Jamshid Ghomi over alleged Iran technology exports that violated US sanctions, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said.
Ghomi, an Orange County, California resident, was taken into custody on June 4 after a federal criminal complaint, according to the NY Post.
Prosecutors accused Ghomi of supplying computer technology to Iranian companies and government entities despite US sanctions.
Blanche said some of the technology allegedly supported Iran’s military and nuclear programmes. US media reported that the case involved networking, security and encryption equipment.

The Justice Department also began proceedings to seize Ghomi’s California mansion, which officials valued at about $35 million. Blanche said prosecutors allege Ghomi bought the property with proceeds from the illegal scheme.
“The allegations assert that the defendant violated US sanctions against Iran,” Blanche said. He also accused Ghomi of supporting Iran’s nuclear programme and profiting from the activity.
