Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi firmly denied government involvement in the arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Speaking to the media following the funeral prayers for martyred constable Abdul Hameed Shah in Islamabad, Naqvi addressed the swirling rumours about Gandapur’s arrest, stating unequivocally that the Chief Minister is not in the custody of any government agency.
The Interior Minister confirmed that authorities possess footage showing Gandapur fleeing the KP House in Islamabad. This suggests that the Chief Minister was not apprehended but had instead left the premises under unclear circumstances.
In response to inquiries about the tragic death of Constable Shah, Naqvi vowed that those responsible for the constable’s martyrdom would face justice, underlining the government’s commitment to accountability.
Further addressing the loss within the police force, Naqvi announced a ‘Shaheed’ package for the family of the slain officer, which includes job placements for both of his sons, ensuring financial security and support for the bereaved family.
Chief Minister Gandapur’s mysterious disappearance since Saturday evening has sparked widespread concern within his party, the PTI, about his safety and whereabouts. Reports have been conflicting, with some sources suggesting Gandapur has been at the Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad. In contrast, others speculate about his arrest due to his sudden absence from the public eye.
The uncertainty about Gandapur’s status began after his brother, Faisal Amin Gandapur, and Omar Ayub, an opposition leader, claimed that the Chief Minister had been arrested. These claims have contributed to the current political scenario’s tensions and confusion.
