One more infant lost life in Sargodha District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) on Monday taking the death toll to 23.
The relief package announced by CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has still not reached Sargodha as the number of infant deaths reached 23 on Monday when another one died due to lack of facilities in DHQ Hospital.
Earlier an investigation team sent by CM Punjab removed Medical Superintendant of the hospital, Sami Iqbal and appointed Director Health Services Najmul Hasan Kazmi in his place.
The statistics of infant death ratio in Pakistan is very high, according to CIA FactBook the mortality rate (number of deaths of infants under one year old in a given year per 1,000 live births) is as follows
Infant mortality rate: total: 57.48 deaths/1,000 live births
male: 60.67 deaths/1,000 live births
female: 54.13 deaths/1,000 live births (2014 est.)
