In Pakpattan, 1,200 students from the Government High School came together under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Sadia Mehr to form a vast human flag spanning 9,600 square feet. This event marked a significant first in the Sahiwal Division’s history and was part of the Independence Day celebrations.
Chief Digital Monitoring Officer, Dr. Abdullah Tabassum, shared with APP that this was an unprecedented event for the division, demonstrating a strong sense of community and patriotism among the students. The celebration also saw participation from notable local politicians including MPA Chaudhry Javed Ahmed and MPA Motiya Masood Khalid, among others.
The students, dressed in traditional Pakistani attire, aligned themselves to craft the giant flag, symbolizing their unity and love for the nation. Deputy Commissioner Meher voiced her pride in the students’ impressive display and stressed the importance of such unity and patriotism, especially at this time.
This initiative was part of broader Independence Day festivities across Punjab, spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The success of this endeavor was largely due to the diligent efforts of the students and teachers, with special commendations to Dr. Tabassum for his pivotal role in training and overseeing the correct formation of the flag.
In her address, Meher lauded the education department officials and teachers for their significant contributions to the event’s success. She underscored the critical role of such events in fostering national pride and unity among the youth, as vividly demonstrated by the students’ participation in this monumental project.
