Imran Khan’s sisters voiced concerns about his prison conditions after a consecutive two-day visit, prompting Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to warn of nationwide protests if Khan experiences further mistreatment. For several weeks, the PTI had maintained that Khan was suffering in jail, a claim supported by his ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith due to restrictions on visitations at Adiala Jail—a ban recently lifted.

A medical team assessed the former premier’s health in jail, reporting his condition as stable, despite ongoing concerns within his party. Aleema Khan, after meeting with her brother, reported that since October 3, power had been cut off in Khan’s cell and the food provided caused him nausea. Both sisters refrained from media comments following their subsequent visit.
Meanwhile, an official statement on Khan’s X account (formerly Twitter) detailed his mental distress from prolonged solitary confinement. He alleged five days without electricity and ten days confined to his cell, interpreting these actions as governmental tactics to break his resolve, which he vowed to maintain.
Further compounding the situation, Gandapur’s remarks on Tuesday highlighted a government-induced push towards violence by the mistreatment of Khan. He specifically noted the poor conditions—lack of electricity, inadequate food, and restricted movement—and declared readiness for a nationwide shutdown in protest. Gandapur criticized the government’s actions after a significant PTI protest earlier in the month, promising that further governmental escape attempts by helicopter would be thwarted. He denounced betrayers within the party as traitors, claiming that the party’s future lay with its rising new members, excluding the disloyal and faint-hearted.
