Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja expressed alarm over reports that party founder Imran Khan may be transferred from Adiala Jail to an undisclosed location. Speaking to the media, Raja said, “This seems part of a plan to cut Khan off from his family and lawyers.” The move, he warned, aims to isolate the former prime minister.

Raja noted Khan’s directive to resist such a transfer. “We won’t accept this injustice,” he declared. “If this plan proceeds, our response will be that of honourable people.” On October 7, Khan’s sister, Aleema Khanum, voiced similar fears, alleging plans to place him in complete isolation.

Imran Khan, imprisoned since August 2023, serves a sentence in Adiala Jail for a £190 million corruption case. He also faces trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act tied to May 9, 2023, protests. PTI has repeatedly raised concerns about Khan’s health and that of his wife, Bushra Bibi. Last month, his legal team appealed to UN Special Rapporteur Alice J. Edwards, urging action against alleged mistreatment.

Khan’s potential transfer escalates tensions in Pakistan’s volatile political landscape. PTI’s vow to protest signals strong resistance, potentially sparking public unrest. The issue highlights ongoing debates about judicial fairness and the treatment of political prisoners. PTI awaits confirmation of any transfer plans. If enacted, protests could intensify.
