The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted bail to PTI founder Imran Khan in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case, with a surety bond of one million rupees.
The case was heard by a division bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangir. The IHC verdict directed authorities to release Imran Khan from Adiala Jail.
In a separate case, the Islamabad District and Sessions Court acquitted Imran Khan in two vandalism cases registered during the PTI Long March. The Judicial Magistrate granted acquittal due to insufficient evidence.
In 2022, two cases were registered against Imran Khan at Khanna police station. On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved its decision on Imran Khan’s plea for bail in the £190 million NAB reference.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri heard the bail plea. Special Prosecutor NAB Amjad Parvez stated that out of 59 witnesses, 39 had recorded their statements. NAB dropped ten witnesses, and six to eight more are expected to testify.
Parvez added that if the case reaches its final stage, the trial court should be directed to decide promptly instead of granting bail. Following arguments, the bench reserved its decision on Imran Khan’s bail application.
