Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan underwent follow-up eye treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on April 28, and the hospital discharged him on Tuesday morning.
A PIMS spokesperson said ophthalmologists examined Khan before the procedure and found him clinically stable.
The hospital said optical coherence tomography showed clinical improvement. Khan received his fourth intravitreal anti-VEGF injection under microscopic guidance in the operating theatre, according to the hospital administration.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan also confirmed the development in a message on X, stating: “It was just confirmed to me that Khan Sahib was taken to PIMS last night for an eye injection and a medical check-up. I would add that, regardless of this treatment, our main concern remains unanswered: Khan Sahib and Bushra Bibi should be shifted to a hospital for treatment under the supervision of their personal doctors and in the presence of family members. This is their fundamental right. We have been demanding its implementation for a long time.”
PIMS spokesperson said surgeons obtained informed consent and followed standard monitoring, precautions and operating-theatre protocols.
PIMS said Khan remained vitally stable before, during and after the procedure. The hospital discharged him with further care instructions, follow-up advice and medical documents.
Khan last received an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection on March 23. His right central retinal vein occlusion was identified in late January, according to the source material.
Doctors carried out his first procedure on January 24 and administered the second dose on February 24.
