Former prime minister and chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) with a pressing plea on Tuesday.
Imran Khan, Via his legal representative, Salman Safdar, has petitioned the court to instruct the police, Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) and NAB (National Accountability Bureau) against detaining him in any subsequent case.
Anticipation over the Toshakhana Verdict
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has all eyes on it as the day is marked to announce a significant ruling. Today’s reserved verdict pertains to the petition lodged by the PTI Chairman, which disputes his prior conviction and the consequential sentence given to him in connection to the Toshakhana case.

Recalling the recent events, a district and sessions court situated in the federal capital had passed a judgment aan earlier this month. OOwning to a guilty verdict over corrupt practices linked to the state’s gift repository, Khan was sentenced to three-year imprisonment and a financial penalty of Rs100,000.
In its detailed judgment, the court noted, “Imran Khan intentionally provided false details regarding the Toshakhana gifts to the ECP, marking him guilty of corrupt practices.” A consequence of this ruling was the further stipulation that Khan is now barred from holding any public office for the next five years.

With the judgment passed, the former prime minister, facing disqualification from taking up any public roles due to this conviction, was promptly taken into custody. He is currently serving his sentence in Attock jail.
