Imam-i-Kaaba Mohammad Saleh Abu Abdul Majid’s scheduled visit to the National Press Club (NPC) was cancelled due to security reasons.
According to the NPC President Shakeel Anjum the police and security authorities told the Imam that two terrorist groups had planned to target and hit very important personalities (VIPs). Following the input, the Imam-e-Kaaba left for Saudi Arabia without visiting the press club.
Security agencies claimed that two terror groups have entered the federal capital. They said though the groups had not been sent to target the Imam-i-Kaaba, they can find him as a soft target.
Though the Imam-i-Kaaba returned to Saudi Arabia after his visit to Pakistan on Sunday evening, the claims made by the agencies about the arrival of the terror groups in the city before Eidul Fitr created panic.
A senior police officer requesting not to be quoted told Dawn that the capital always remained under threats so the police had already made arrangements to ensure security during the Eid holidays.
