LAHORE: Members of the Pakistani hockey squad have protested against the lack of funds available with the federation.

An Olympic qualifying camp was cut-short after 17 days when the Pakistani Hockey Federation (PHF) announced that they had run out of funds.

A senior member of the hockey team speaking on the condition of anonymity said if the PHF did not have the funds to pay daily allowances why was the camp set-up? He also questioned why the PHF was making claims of a tour of Australia when their pockets were empty.

Other players complained that the PHF was using players to create a stir in the media so they could receive funds. They added that the PHF should allow players to participate in foreign leagues so they can earn a living and continue to remain in form.
