Pakistan IT exports are expected to cross $4.5 billion during the current fiscal year. Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja told the National Assembly about this on Thursday.
Speaking during Question Hour, the minister said IT exports had risen by 20% and had doubled over the past few years.
Shaza Fatima also briefed lawmakers on human resource development measures being taken to support growth in Pakistan’s information technology sector.
Referring to the recent spectrum auction, she said 4G services would improve. Furthermore, 5G would become available in Islamabad and the four provincial capitals in the next few months.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the house that the National Disaster Management Authority had installed a modern system for timely weather forecasting.
He said the forecasts were being shared with provincial disaster management authorities to help reduce losses from extreme weather events.
Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Net Syed Imran Ahmad Shah said the Benazir Income Support Programme was providing financial assistance to more than 10 million families.
Two bills were laid before the National Assembly: the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2026, and the Sea Carriage Shipping Documents Bill, 2026.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry rejected opposition claims that Pakistanis were being deported from the United Arab Emirates. He explained that Pakistan had excellent relations with the UAE.
