Pakistan is making rapid progress in digital connectivity as the Pakistan 5G rollout investment expansion enters a new phase. Backed by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), a significant step toward next‑generation telecom services.

Authorities have already activated more than 300 5G sites across the country. Services are now available in major cities and key locations, reflecting steady advancement in network infrastructure. The rollout underscores a coordinated effort to modernise Pakistan’s telecom sector. By expanding 5G coverage, officials aim to enhance service reliability, increase network capacity, and improve the overall user experience.

The activation of these sites highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening connectivity in urban centres while laying the foundation for broader nationwide coverage in the coming years.

Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, stated that the introduction of 5G spectrum will significantly increase internet speeds and improve service quality. He emphasised that better connectivity will support Pakistan’s growing digital economy by enabling faster data access, more efficient online services, and greater adoption of digital platforms.

In parallel, Jazz, part of the VEON Group, has announced an additional US$1 billion in investment over the next three years. This capital injection is expected to reinforce telecom infrastructure and accelerate digital transformation nationwide. It may also help attract further foreign investment into Pakistan’s technology and communications sector.

The expansion of 5G services represents a critical milestone for Pakistan’s digital future. Improved connectivity can drive innovation, support businesses, enhance public services, and improve everyday communication for millions of users.

As rollout efforts continue, Pakistan is positioning itself to benefit more fully from global technological and telecommunications advancements, thereby strengthening its role in the regional digital landscape.
