Balochistan, Pakistan: Gwadar University VC recovered safely along with two professors and their driver after their abduction from Mastung district, family sources said.
The family confirmed that the University of Gwadar Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir, and three colleagues had recovered. However, they said the four had not yet returned home.
Dr. Sabir and his colleagues were abducted on May 13 while travelling through Mastung district. Earlier reports identified the missing officials as the vice-chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Syed Manzoor Ahmed, another university staff member and their driver.
Authorities had launched a search after the group went missing while travelling from Gwadar to Quetta. Officials said at the time that the vehicle had not reached its destination.
The recovery came on a day of heightened security concerns in Balochistan. Officials also reported a deadly blast near Chaman Phatak in Quetta, where a train passing through the railway track came under attack.
