The Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have agreed to form a Gilgit-Baltistan coalition government, party sources said after post-election talks.
Under the power-sharing formula, the chief minister will come from the PPP, while the governor’s post will go to the PML-N.
Sources said the two parties also agreed to distribute provincial ministries under a 60-40 formula. The PPP will receive 60% of cabinet portfolios, while the PML-N will receive 40%.
The arrangement follows unofficial and provisional results from 21 of 24 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly seats. The PPP leads with nine seats, followed by independents with seven, PML-N with four and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen with one. Results from three constituencies are still awaited.
