ISLAMABAD: Justice Babar Sattar must vacate his official Islamabad residence by August 3 after the Estate Office cancelled its allotment following his transfer to the Peshawar High Court.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) registrar issued the 30-day notice on Friday, July 24. The Estate Office cancelled the residence allotment on July 3. The notice states that the 30-day period began on that date, setting August 3 as the deadline.
Justice Sattar had previously informed the IHC administration that he intended to remain in Islamabad during his tenure at the Peshawar High Court, rather than seek official accommodation in Peshawar.
Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani approved his transfer from the IHC to the Peshawar High Court on April 29. The decision followed recommendations from the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.

The President’s Secretariat also confirmed the transfers of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani to the Lahore High Court and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz to the Sindh High Court.
The Ministry of Law and Justice notified the transfers under Article 200 of the Constitution.
In a 2023 judgment, Justice Sattar held that judges remained entitled to official accommodation throughout their service under the relevant presidential order.
Dawn reported that officials visited his Islamabad residence on July 22 but left because the judge was on judicial leave and was not present.
