Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the Friday holiday schools policy will not become permanent and will end in the coming weeks.
Hayat said the Punjab government has started discussions with the federal government to withdraw the weekly holiday arrangement.
He also addressed speculation about summer vacations, saying the government will decide after May 15 whether to reduce holidays. Hayat said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif must approve any change to the summer vacation schedule.
The Punjab government introduced the Friday holiday earlier under a revised academic schedule linked to rising fuel costs during a global energy crisis.

Under the policy, schools, colleges and universities shifted to a shorter academic week, while students took online classes on Fridays.
The development comes after the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government ended its Friday weekly holiday with immediate effect.
The AJK Cabinet made the decision during its 40th meeting, and President Chaudhry Latif Akbar approved it.
The Department of Services and General Administration notified that government offices, departments, divisions and universities in AJK will now open on Fridays during regular working hours.
