A military court has sentenced former intelligence chief Faiz Hameed to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment on December 11, 2025.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced the verdict in an official statement on Thursday. Retired Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, former Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), faced conviction by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) after a trial that ran for more than fifteen months under the Pakistan Army Act.

The legal process began on August 12, 2024. The court found the retired general guilty on four specific charges. These were engaging in political activities and violating the Official Secrets Act. The other charges included misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to persons.

The ISPR stated the trial complied with all legal provisions. The accused was afforded his full legal rights, including the right to choose a defence team. Hameed retains the right to appeal the conviction at the relevant appellate forum. The military’s media wing also noted separate, ongoing investigations into his conduct.

These investigations examine his alleged role in fomenting political agitation and instability. The probe is in collaboration with certain political elements. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar linked the sentence to a separate civilian case. He stated Hameed was also penalised in the “Top City” private housing society scandal.

The minister alleged that Hameed misused his position to extort. He called the conviction evidence-based and a victory for justice. Tarar emphasised that no one is above the law in Pakistan. He further alleged Hameed acted as a political adviser to the PTI after his retirement.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reacted on social media. He stated that the nation would face the consequences of actions by Hameed and a former army chief for years to come.
