Karachi, Sindh: The Federal Investigation Agency’s Karachi Zone director has assured jewellers that the FIA Sarafa Bazaar raid case will be investigated in a transparent and impartial manner. The agency’s spokesperson said this.
The assurance came during a meeting with a delegation of the All Pakistan Sarafa Jewellers and Gems Association. The delegation raised concerns over alleged violence against a trader during an FIA operation in Saddar’s Sarafa Bazaar.
The FIA spokesperson said both sides discussed the raid, related market developments and the business community’s grievances. Officials also reviewed issues linked to cooperation and confidence-building after the incident.

The FIA director said all aspects of the case would be examined in detail. He added that the agency would uphold the rule of law while following legal requirements and institutional procedures.
The meeting followed a May 15, 2026, raid at a jewellery shop over alleged silver smuggling. According to media reports, FIA records showed 178 kilogrammes of silver should have been present at the shop. However, officials recovered only 15 kilogrammes of locally branded silver.
The agency alleged that the missing 163 kilogrammes may have been removed during a disturbance. This disturbance was allegedly created by traders and shopkeepers during the operation.
CCTV footage later surfaced, allegedly showing an FIA official slapping a trader who tried to force his way out during the search.
The FIA later suspended the SHO of its Anti-Corruption Circle, citing initial observations and available evidence.
