The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has scheduled election for Senate seats of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on March 19.
The March 5 voting for Upper House of the Parliament was marred by protests from FATA members who objected over a presidential ordinance under which MNAs from tribal areas were directed to cast only one vote, contrary to a previous law that allowed four votes to each member.
Following the protest, ECP suspended the voting in National Assembly on all four FATA seats and termed the ordinance as illegal.
Later on the federal government rescinded the ordinance.
