Counterterrorism police recently detained a suspect linked to the October 7 suicide attack on Chinese engineers near Karachi airport, revealing the funding mechanics of the operation.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) filed an FIR in an anti-terrorism court, detailing the financial and operational planning behind the attack that killed two Chinese engineers. The suspect, Javed, admitted his role in aiding the suicide bombing. He identified Bashir Baloch and Abdul Rehman of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) as the architects and financiers of the plot, executed by suicide bomber Shah Fahad with Javed’s assistance.

According to the FIR, the vehicle used in the attack was bought for Rs7.1 million at Al-Haram Automobiles, Karachi, financed through a bank in Hub Chowki. The car was later equipped with explosives.
The FIR names several BLA Majeed Brigade leaders, including Bashir Baloch, known as Bashir Zaib, and Abdul Rehman, known as Rehman Gul, as well as their accomplices. It also lists Bilal, the bank worker who managed the funds transfer, and Saeed Ali, the account holder, as involved parties.
The FIR, lodged by Moosa Kaleem, SHO of Airport Police Station, encompasses charges of terrorism, terror financing, use of explosives, and murder.
