CrowdStrike reports that over 97% of Windows sensors are now operational again. CEO George Kurtz announced this recovery on Thursday, nearly seven days following a software mishap that initially disabled the systems globally.
Installed on various devices like laptops and desktops, the Falcon platform sensor by CrowdStrike safeguards against cyber threats.
A flaw within this sophisticated platform prompted the malfunction, causing numerous computers with Microsoft’s Windows OS to exhibit the infamous blue screen of death.
On Saturday, Microsoft revealed that approximately 8.5 million Windows devices were impacted by this disruption. The outage resulted in significant disturbances, including halted flights, offline broadcasters, and disruptions to critical services such as healthcare and banking.
Kurtz highlighted that the swift recovery was bolstered by introducing automated recovery methods and the concerted effort of all available resources to assist customers, as shared in a LinkedIn post.
