LAHORE/PESHAWAR: Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa authorities warned Friday of rain and thunderstorms through Sunday, with risks of urban flooding and landslides in several districts.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authorities issued advisories after a Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast covering August 21 to 23.
In Punjab, heavy rain is expected in Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal and Okara. Rain is also forecast across Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Multan, Bahawalpur and several other districts.
Meanwhile, KP authorities forecast rain in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat and other areas.
The PDMAs warned of urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Mardan and Swabi. Landslide risks were also identified in Murree, Galiyat and several hilly districts of KP.

PDMA Punjab Director General Saif Anwar Jappa directed district administrations and relevant departments to remain alert.
According to PDMA Punjab, 54 people have died and 341 have been injured in rain-related incidents during the current monsoon season.

The authority also reported a moderate flood at Kalabagh on the Indus River, with inflow at 425,000 cusecs and outflow at 416,000 cusecs. PDMA said Tarbela Dam was 100% full and Mangla Dam 72% full.
KP authorities advised tourists to avoid unnecessary travel during rainfall and urged residents to stay away from rivers, streams and drains.
