The Academy confirmed Tuesday, May 12, that comedian Conan O’Brien will return to host the 99th Academy Awards in 2027.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said O’Brien will host the ceremony for a third consecutive year after fronting the 2025 and 2026 telecasts.
The Academy scheduled the 99th Academy Awards for Sunday, March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with ABC airing the show live and Hulu streaming it.
The announcement said executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will return for their fourth straight year, while Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney will continue as producers.
Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, praised O’Brien’s “remarkable energy” and comedic voice around the broadcast.

O’Brien’s return follows a 2025 Oscars telecast that drew approximately 19.7 million viewers, marking a five-year high. The 2026 ceremony attracted around 17.9 million viewers.
His three-year run places O’Brien in rare Oscars company, as Billy Crystal was the last host to lead three consecutive ceremonies.
