Taylor Sheridan, the writer-producer behind “Yellowstone,” has built a Taylor Sheridan TV empire valued at around $1 billion and is preparing to move from Paramount to NBCUniversal.
The 56-year-old creator built his success around shows including “Yellowstone,” “Landman,” “1883,” “1923”, and “Lioness.” Page Six reported that Sheridan often writes major projects largely on his own and maintains tight control over scripts.
Sheridan’s productions have also attracted actors including Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, Demi Moore, Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman.
Industry sources cited by Page Six said established film stars can earn more than $1 million per episode on such television projects.
His approach has also produced high-profile clashes. Sheridan and actor Kevin Costner stopped speaking after disagreements during the final season of “Yellowstone,” although a source close to Costner told Page Six there was no continuing personal dispute.

Actress Jill Wagner described Sheridan as demanding but loyal, while “Lioness” actor Michael Kelly said performers follow Sheridan’s scripts closely without improvisation.
Sheridan moved into screenwriting after years as an actor. He told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023 that his early writing quickly generated industry interest after his acting career stalled.

“Yellowstone” later debuted on Paramount Network in 2018 and became the foundation of an expanding franchise.
The source also says Sheridan is co-writing and producing a live-action “Call of Duty” film with director Peter Berg for Paramount Pictures and Activision, with a June 30, 2028 theatrical release planned.
