Lin Shu, a 31-year-old newly married man from China, is capturing widespread attention after revealing his extraordinary daily commute of 320 kilometres solely out of love for his wife.
Lin’s story has garnered over 7 million views after he shared videos on Douyin, detailing his journey and the reasons behind it.
According to South China Post, Lin starts his day every morning at 5:00 AM in Weifang, Shandong province. After a short electric bike ride to the station, he catches a 6:15 AM train to Qingdao. Arriving at 7:46 AM, he takes a 15-minute subway ride to reach his office by 9:00 AM. His return journey takes three to four hours, culminating in a daily round-trip commute that spans about six hours.
Despite social media users expressing astonishment at the demanding nature of his commute, Lin insists it is worth it for his love for his wife. He explains that his dedication stems from a desire to support his wife in maintaining security in Weifang, where they have purchased a flat. Lin previously lived closer to work but chose the lengthy commute to spend more time at home, highlighting the high cost of living closer to his office in Qingdao and his minimal need for overtime due to understanding from his manager.
Lin regards his current commuting arrangement as temporary, with plans to relocate closer to work once his wife secures a job in Qingdao. This commitment to balancing professional obligations and marital harmony underscores the lengths he will go for his relationship, making his daily journey not just a commute but a testament to his dedication to his family.
